Front yard landscaping

Finally got the front yard landscaping mostly done....some has to wait until Spring!  Along the front, dwarf yaupons reclaimed from another yard and loriape in the planter box.

at the end, a blue atlas cedar and knockout roses

and a new slice of fence plus grass laid in where a flowerbed used to be.

New air conditioner/heater.....installed today!

Master Bath - done!!!

I think a strike plate is ALL that is left. So excited to move back into my master bed/bath!!!

p.s. I LOVE LOVE LOVE furniture on wheels!!!!

Cabana....done!!

still need to decide if I am going to stain the new wood.....or get a rug.....or what. will watch for sales of dining tables through the summer (and especially at the end of the season....)

Updates

Furniture is back in place (sorta) and I'm almost ready to move back into my master bedroom! Color in here is Osage Orange by Sherwin-Williams.














































And the cabana project is almost done! New floor in today and most of the electrical work is done. Tomorrow, hanging a ceiling fan and the final cleanup! David isn't going to stain the new boards....I'm trying to decide if that is a project I want to tackle, or if I just want to find an outdoor rug to bridge the gap.



I am planning to watch for sales on dining tables as the summer continues and winds down. Until then, I'll just set up my little folding chairs and enjoy a place to be outside, but in the shade and (man-made) breeze!

Backyard Cabana Re-do - Day 1

So, the house also came with a great backyard patio and cabana. Inside the cabana was a hot tub.....which I never used. I think it probably worked, but I wasn't even able to get the cover off. So, I decided to utilize my handyman for a few more days and ditch the hot tub.

as with many other things in this house, I always discover interesting things -- like this spoon which was obviously buried under the hot tub. Why would you not clean out before setting a hot tub?!?! There were also various and sundry balls, action figures and toys in the dirt!!!

Office Painting

A byproduct of the master bath remodel is painting both my office and master bedroom.....here are pics of the office:

Master Bath Remodel - Day 24

the LAST day!! truthfully, there is still a little bit of work in the bathroom (the light fixture hasn't come in yet and the mirror isn't hung). BUT, the construction mess is cleaned up and the bathroom is quite a marked improvement over the beginning!!

and the final question....what do you think about a white mirror in the bathroom? I had in my head a darker frame, but couldn't find one I liked, so decided to stick with the regular (boring) no frame, bevel edge mirror. I can't decide if I like the white frame or not -- though it definitely does look better against the wall than the plain mirror does.....so.....any thoughts?!?

Master Bath Remodel - Day 22

today, the sink and shower fixtures went in! David said the shower is completely done now - all grout is sealed and ready to go! the wall tile seems a little gray-er than I thought it would be, but at this point I don't care anymore.....the overall impression is SO much better than that nasty pink and white!!

the sink isn't completely set yet, but it is out of the boxes and put together..... next to install the sink fixture and re-seat the toilet.

the light still needs to be ordered (guess I wasn't specific enough that you couldn't buy the light in the store!), but with the painting in my bedroom and office still to be done, there is plenty of time for it to come in.

Master Bath Remodel - Day 21

Yesterday was primer or paint.....nothing much too look at.

Today, however! I came in the house and saw this in the hall:

my new shower door!!!! I am so excited. A frameless shower door that actually latches!! It is actually almost difficult to open, the magnet catches so tightly! Maybe all the shower water will stay in the shower now!!

we're getting so closer to being done! the estimate is that construction will end this week and then I'm having two rooms painted. then I can focus on re-decorating my bedroom!
